Workshop "Applying Cleaner Production to Multilateral Environmental Agreements

Supported by the SIDA the Workshop "Applying Cleaner Production to Multilateral Environmental Agreements" was carried from 21 to 25 November, 2005 in Kiev in cooperation with UNEP and IVAN in the Conference Room of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Ukraine. The venue for the workshop was specially selected to attract higher attention from all stakeholders and to emphasize the importance and timeliness of the event.
Representatives of the Ukrainian Parliamentary Committee for the Fuel and Energy Complex, Cabinet of Ministries, MEAs National Focal Points, Ministries of Environmental Protection, Economy, Industrial Policy, Emergency Situations, Hazardous Waste Management Centre, took part in the workshop.

This training envisionscontributing in bridging the gap between Cleaner Production and implementing MEAs (related to energy, raw materials (chemicals) and waste) with the following overall objectives:
• Strengthen national MEA implementing capacities in by helping governments to introduce preventive environmental strategies in their policy making and implementation process; and
• Expand the expertise of Cleaner Production Centres to assist industries and financial institutions to apply the Cleaner Production concept in national MEA implementation process.
